Owning and maintaining an AED(s) in today’s world can be a daunting task. To make hosting an AED easy, and to increase AED availability to our community, Coastal Carolina CPR offers a truly hands-off, set-it-and-forget-it ( ... until you need it, of course... ) AED Maintenance program.
Although, everyone's first concern is for the potential victims of Sudden Cardiac Arrest, ... still a hesitance lingers... What about my company's... and MY liability personally for getting involved?
North Carolina's "Good Samaritan" Law (§ 90-21.15) is very specific on who is covered during a First aid/AED event. During your participation in the program, CCC maintains ownership of the unit(s) hosted at your facility. Per NCGS, the 'rescuer' who uses an AED, the trainer of the AED 'rescuer', the AED-issuing physician, and the host site are protected.
The owner of an AED is conspicuously not mentioned in these statutes. And, for good reason! The AED owner needs to ensure a publicly-accessible AED is rescue ready at all times.
Our program provides that readiness while, ... through the comfort provided by Statue and staff training, ... encouraging by-stander participation in Sudden Cardiac Arrest rescue efforts.
A CCC representative will visit monthly to inspect your unit(s). The program includes:
